The Mole Antonelliana is a major landmark of the Italian City Torino. It is named after the architect who built it, Allessandro Antoneli. The construction began in 1863
The Mole Antonelliana was originally intended to be a Jewish synagogue because religious freedom had just been granted to non-Catholic groups. Today, the building houses Museo del Cinema. The Mole appears on the reverse of the two cent Italian Euro coins and was the official emblem of the 2006 Winter Olympics.
